Who are we?

The association of guide dog users of Catalonia, AUGPC is a non-profit association formed by guide dog users and people who feel identified with our work.

The AUGPC provides a number of services to its partners, as well as disseminates and defends the rights of guide dog users from Catalonia.

Leisure activities with our guide dogs, informative talks for our partners or veterinary controls, are some of the services we provide at AUGPC.

We also work in the field of dissemination and social awareness to disseminate the important work that our guide dogs develop. School talks, participation in public events, media interviews are examples of the work we do from the association.

If you are a guide dog user or feel identified with us we will be happy for you to be part of the AUGPC.

History of AUGPC

In the early eighties of the last century began the journey of our association.

The number of users with guide dog had increased significantly and it was necessary to create a legal framework to establish their rights.

Our association was the first to be established at the state level and played an important role that gave rise to the first REAL DECRETO 3250/1983,of December 7, which regulates the use of guide dogs for visually impaired.

Over the years, the royal decrees evolve and adapt their content to the changes that follow.

In the nineties the different autonomous laws that regulate the access rights of guide dog users began to develop. Already in the two thousand, the new autonomous laws, as well as the modification of the previous ones will include other types of dogs that together with the guides are renamed assistance dogs.

Currently in Catalonia, users have Law 19/2009, OF NOVEMBER 26, OF ACCESS TO THE ENVIRONMENT OF PEOPLE ACCOMPANIED BY ASSISTANCE DOGS, which regulates our rights and obligations.
